September's Featured Artist - Dani Harris

"I picked up a drawing pencil for the first time when I had to take an art class when I was twelve, I’ve been drawing faces and expressions ever since. Today, my work moves between the figurative and the abstract. My portrait work focuses on the simplicity of black and white graphite, capturing quiet detail and character. When I paint, I play with color, texture, and movement. My favorite pieces happen when I bring the two together—layering a pencil drawing directly over a textured painting.

My art is guided by what I’m feeling in the moment. When a viewer looks at my work, I want them to lean into whatever it makes them feel."-Dani Harris

Featured Artist at Poplar & Payne

Our Featured Artist Program was created to give artists a dedicated place inside Poplar & Payne where their work can truly take center stage.

Each month, we select an artist to showcase a collection of original work in a prominent area of the store. It gives our customers an opportunity to discover artists they may not have encountered before, learn more about the person behind the work, and purchase original artwork directly from talented creatives in our community.

We are incredibly excited for Dani Harris to be the artist who begins this tradition at Poplar & Payne.

Featured Artist Night — October 3 at 6 PM

To celebrate Dani and officially introduce our Featured Artist Program, we're hosting a Featured Artist Night on Saturday, October 3 at 6 PM at Poplar & Payne.

This special evening will be an opportunity to come into the store, see Dani's collection displayed together, meet the artist behind the work, and learn more about her creative process and the inspiration behind her pieces.

More than simply displaying artwork on our walls, we want our Featured Artist Program to create a connection between the artist and the people experiencing their work. Featured Artist Night is our chance to make that introduction.

Come spend the evening with us, meet Dani Harris, experience her work in person, and help us celebrate the beginning of a new tradition at Poplar & Payne.
